Documentation

Everything you need to get set up.

Most sites are searching semantically within five minutes of install. Here's the full walkthrough.

Getting started

LucidSearch installs like any WordPress plugin, and every new install starts with 14 days of full Pro included — no credit card:

  1. Get the plugin — enter your email and the download starts. No credit card; the free plan is free forever.
  2. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins › Add New › Upload Plugin, choose the zip, click Install Now, then Activate.
  3. Open LucidSearch › Setup and click Index my content. Initial indexing usually takes 1–3 minutes depending on how many posts you have.

That's it — LucidSearch automatically takes over your theme's search form and results page. No template edits required.

By default, LucidSearch replaces your theme's built-in search. If you want to place a search box somewhere specific, you have two options.

Shortcode

Add the shortcode to any page, post, or block:

[lucidsearch]

Optional attributes:

[lucidsearch placeholder="Search recipes…" results="8"]

Widget / block

Add the LucidSearch block in the block editor, or the LucidSearch widget in Appearance › Widgets for classic themes. Both inherit your theme's styling automatically.

Content indexing

LucidSearch indexes your published posts and pages as AI embeddings — the mathematical representations that power semantic matching.

  • New and updated posts are re-indexed automatically when you publish.
  • Drafts and private posts are never indexed.
  • The Free plan indexes your 75 most recent posts; Pro indexes everything. You can choose which post types and categories are included under LucidSearch › Indexing.
  • Products and custom post types are indexed on every plan. Pro adds category & date search filters.

Your content is sent to an LLM once at indexing time to generate embeddings. No visitor data is ever sent, and nothing is used to train AI models. See our privacy policy.

Search analytics

Open LucidSearch › Analytics to see what your visitors are searching for.

  • Top queries — your most common searches, with volume.
  • Zero-result queries — searches that returned nothing. Each row includes a suggested action: create a page, add a redirect, or add an FAQ.
  • Search volume — a daily chart of how much your visitors are searching.

The Free plan shows your top 5 queries. Pro keeps unlimited history, shows every query, and adds automatic zero-result alerts by email.

WooCommerce

Product search works on all plans. On Pro, LucidSearch also connects searches to orders:

  • See revenue and order counts attributed to each search query.
  • Spot product searches with high volume and zero results — usually your fastest revenue win.

Enable attribution under LucidSearch › Settings › WooCommerce. It requires WooCommerce 7.0 or later.

Agency dashboard

The Agency plan includes a centralized dashboard at app.lucidsearch.ai covering up to 15 client sites:

  • Connect a client site by installing LucidSearch and entering your agency license key.
  • View search volume, zero-result rates, and trends across all sites side by side.
  • Export client-ready PDF or CSV reports per site, per month.

Account & billing

  • Purchases, licensing, and invoices are handled securely by Freemius.
  • Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel anytime from LucidSearch › Account.
  • All paid plans include a 14-day money-back guarantee.
  • Every new install starts with 14 days of full Pro — no credit card. When the trial ends you keep the free plan forever, and the plugin warns you during the final 3 days.
  • There are no search-count limits on any plan. On Free, your 75 most recent posts are indexed — upgrade to Pro to index everything.

Troubleshooting

Search results look unstyled

LucidSearch inherits your theme's styles. If your theme uses a heavily customized search template, use the shortcode on a dedicated page instead, or contact support for a theme-specific snippet.

New content isn't appearing in results

Check LucidSearch › Indexing for the post's status. On the free plan, your 75 most recent posts are indexed — publishing new content can rotate the oldest posts out of the index. Upgrade to Pro to index everything, or exclude unneeded post types to make room.
